4 Things Not to Say to Stay-At-Home Mom

June 12, 2022 by MamaBee

Stay-at-home moms don’t have it easy, and a few kind words can go a long way toward putting a crown on their heads. The dedication and sacrifice they give, relinquishing the pride of being an outdoor working mom, is immeasurable. There’s more to being a stay-at-home mom than meets the eye; often, it takes a keen eye and conscious mind to notice that. So, if you came across one, here is what not to say to a stay-at-home mom.

1. Don’t You Have a Job?

A 3 am to 5 pm job is good, and nothing is wrong with that. You earn and lend a hand with the expenses in the house. But that’s not to say that stay-at-home moms don’t offer a valuable contribution either. Staying at home, attending to the kids, and keeping the abode from falling apart is a massive job that requires a gold crown. Stay-at-home moms have a job, and it’s usually an overly significant one. So the next time you meet a stay-at-home mom, please shun from asking.

2. It Must Be Boring Staying at Home All-Day

First off, it’s ABSOLUTELY not. Have you spent time with a stay-at-home mom and seen them gloomy or frustrated? The chances are that never. Stay-at-home moms love what they do, and seeing their home in perfect shape is all they could ask for. Of course, the chores and errands can be some leg work, but it doesn’t mean it bores them to the core. Most stay-at-home moms enjoy their days, which doesn’t put them under the weather.

3. Your Life Must Be Easy, I Guess

Not quite. Like other working moms, stay-at-home moms don’t have it easy. And although they seemingly enjoy taking care of their families and patching their homes together, it’s not a cakewalk you’d imagine. Well, it’s okay to stereotype the idea that stay-at-home moms have it like a breeze, but as much a cliché it is, it shouldn’t always be absolute in your thoughts. Stay-at-home moms have a challenging job, just as working moms do.

4. Don’t You Have Something to Do with Your Life?

If you have to ask a stay-at-home mom this question, please find a more courteous way to do it. It’s okay to be curious, and while it may seem not to be a great deal to ask, it leaves them wondering if they are doing anything wrong. Being a stay-at-home mom is a commitment that one has to make, and it’s usually for the benefit of the family. It’s a massive deal for them, so please always use kinder language to ask.

Being a stay-at-home mom is a big deal and never a job to take for granted. Most moms dedicate their time to caring for their families, and a little empathy helps. If you have to ask any of these questions, be sure to think them over or do it more sensitively. Or, if possible, don’t ask them out loud altogether.
