Outlets can be very temperamental and aren’t something you should mess around with. If you plug something in that requires too high voltage it might blow a fuse, and you should be careful when removing a cord plugged into the outlet as it could break or rip the outlet out of the wall.

One person was moving some furniture around when they blew an outlet. Unfortunately, they hadn’t noticed their phone was plugged into the charger and caught on the couch when they moved it. The force of the movement blew the charger as well as the outlet. Talk about a two for one. Thankfully, outlets aren’t too expensive to replace.
