He Isn’t Interested in Kissing Other Guys!
As far as sexuality in film parts go, performers need to require a certain level of fortitude and confidence in order to carry off the character realistically. That’s exactly Kevin Hart’s response whenever he’s asked to appear in scenes involving intimate same-sex contact. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s one-time kiss with him in Central Intelligence was a one-time occurrence, not a regular one. His refusal to accept the part of “true blatant” Alpa Chino (a closeted homosexual rapper) in Tropic Thunder was based on his own personal ideas about the character. Okay, that’s all right.
Even though the actor/comedian has a great deal of admiration for the LGBT community, he said that he didn’t feel completely at ease portraying characters that identify as LGBT. When asked about portraying homosexual roles in an interview, Hart said that he was afraid his doubts would damage his performance because of his lack of confidence. His own thoughts may also hinder him from fully committing to it, he has remarked.
