When asked about her first on-screen kiss, Sink said she was nervous when she did it
It’s ironic that the actress’s resentment of the script’s direction was the driving force for its creation. Stranger Things’ amazing actors had to deal with more than just shifting voices and hormones; they also had to deal with romantic relationships and physical touch! Sadie Sink, who plays Maxine in the blockbuster Netflix series, was coerced into kissing Caleb McLaughlin in a sequence that ended up on camera.
Many viewers and reviewers were surprised when Sink revealed in interviews that she had been reluctant to have her first on-screen kiss. “Snow Ball” kissing was a joke made by show co-creator Ross Duffer towards the conclusion of season 2 of the program. To appease Sadie, the filmmaker included a kiss into the scene. Honestly, that’s just plain mean of you! A peck may be little, but if your actors feel uncomfortable, that’s not ideal! ‘I get [to set] the first day of Snow Ball,’ Sadie recalls thinking. “Oh, Sadie. Are you ready for the kiss?” you ask, I believe it was Ross. I’m like, ‘What the hell?’ No! Not in the playbook. We can safely say that won’t be happening.” As a result, although it wasn’t a major matter in the grand scheme of things, it was clear that the young star was really upset. Next time, don’t be afraid to take a stance! If you prefer, you may go for the guts!
