Not a Lot of Walking Involved
Frito and Lay combined forces to create Frito-Lays and dominated the salty snack market virtually everywhere in the world. You’ve probably gorged on an entire family-pack bag of Lay’s potato chips at one point in your life (we all have), but in the UK, you know Lay’s by the name Walkers.
This is the story behind the Walkers name. Back in 1941, PepsiCo purchased Walkers, an entirely different potato chip manufacturing company. To capitalize on the brand loyalty that Walkers had already established at the time, the parent company decided not to tamper with the chips’ name. Thus, Walkers are still known as Walkers in the UK.
