Do you know why Promise is called a “buttery spread” instead of straight-up butter? Because it’s margarine. We’re not going to get into the whole butter vs. margarine debate, but we will say this: butter is better for you, and it’s tastier. Boo to all the margarine fanboys out there.
In the US, we have a product known as Promise, which we really can’t believe isn’t butter. Surprisingly, Promise doesn’t even come from the US. And in other parts of the globe, Promise is known as Flora. But the brand’s original name is neither of these. It’s Becel.
