Individual desks
Rather than the communal desks seen in many other countries around the world, in America, we tend to opt for individual desks in rows in classrooms. In the lower years, you might share a desk with one other person. Non-American schools use the communal tables for group work and sharing ideas.
Not that we don’t do that over here, but the tradition seems to be one person one desk, meaning we have our own space, and probably have to move around if we want to work with anyone else. Both ways are pretty good though, as long as you’re paying attention to the teacher.
