#8: It’s a Fact
This isn’t what I would have said at first, but now that it’s on my head, I won’t be able to get it out. There are a whopping 58 countries (give or take a few) that have Independence Days based on grabbing the “reigns” (pun intended) back from the UK. France is also responsible for a fair few, too.
Not all of them are called Independence Day, though. Nope, Australia said we’re going to name it something spectacular and patriotic: Australia Day! Somehow, the UK also has one, though what they celebrate, I’m not sure. It’s called British National Day, and it was a little late to the game. It started in 1984. I guess they were a little jealous of all those countries that won their freedom having a celebration.
