The Floor Is Food
Here’s a philosophical question: why aren’t cows more excited that the thing that they eat covers the ground as far as the eye can see? I mean, can you imagine if you set humans loose in a place where the ground was covered with Cheezits? We would lose our danged minds. Why are cows so chill about it?
Here are a couple of possibilities that have occurred to me: first, cows don’t actually have the capacity to get excited. Second, the fact that their food is on the ground and therefore covered with dirt ruins their excitement. Finally, maybe it’s just that grass doesn’t actually taste that good, and they’re eating it out of necessity, not delight. Maybe a better analogy would be humans in a place where the floor is made of raisin bran.
