Creepy CGI Masks for Dot-Drawing (‘Thor: Ragnarök’)
For ‘Thor: Ragnarök,’ actor Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) didn’t have to wear much transformative makeup. Instead, he had to don a strange-looking mask so the CGI dots could be applied. This mask, which looks like a terrifying translucent skin covering Mark Ruffalo, is put on before the CGI crew makes its changes.
The translucent mask makes him seem like a villain rather than a Marvel hero. We understand that it is an essential step in getting ready for the spectacular and memorable effects.
