For those who are unfamiliar, “The Onion” is an online satire news publication. Their material is meant to be amusing rather than truthful. The articles that appear on this parody site from time to time foretell the future.
In 2011, The Onion published a piece claiming that the United States had pulled out of Afghanistan in the night. In 2021, the Associated Press ran another article virtually identical to The Onion’s fake headline ten years prior.
