Cycling might not seem like an impressive sport to some people. After all, some people bike to and from work every day, but nobody hands them any medals for commuting. However, those people are nowhere near the level of a professional cyclist, who can maintain a 28-mile-per-hour pace for extended periods of time.
To put that into perspective, the average amateur cyclist piques at about 18 miles per hour. As for the average cyclist who’s human, 10-15 miles is achievable for short-distance tracks. 12 miles is more realistic for longer distances. Basically, the people in this picture are zooming at over twice the speed of a regular person.
