Benefits of Online Learning {plus} Virtual Field Trip Printable

April 20, 2020 by MamaBee

One of my three kids attended an online charter school for two years after we pulled the child out of public school. This year, 2020, my oldest graduated virtually and is waiting for her high school diploma to arrive in the mail.

Our other two children are using a homeschool platform called Time4Learning to get their homeschool education this year. Being able to have our kids attend online school allows for many benefits. I’ll be honest, all three kids had a major improvement in the area of mental health when we listened to their desire to come home for their education.

Now that we’ve been in this homeschool parenting stage for about two years, we enjoy sharing ideas for other parents who want to bring their kids home to be homeschooled. Right now, during the virus outbreak, many parents are doing what’s called remote learning.

Editorial content

Remote learning is not homeschooling, but it does mean parents have to spend more time overseeing their child’s schoolwork from home. Since the pandemic has caused most public schools to switch to remote learning for the 2020 school year, I wanted to share some benefits to online learning and a little printable that will help you give your children a virtual field trip.

Many sites are offering virtual field trips, such as museums and zoos. Check out Discovery Education for some virtual field trips. Once your kids are done attending their virtual field trip they can fill out their virtual field trip printable sheet.

This is a fun way to enhance your children’s learning whether you’re a homeschool parent or a remote education parent during these days.

Continue reading to learn some of the amazing benefits of online learning. I hope that you’ll read this and be inspired to bring your children home full time to be educated on an online platform. If you’re looking to switch, feel free to find a local virtual charter school in your state, or use a homeschool curriculum and activity website like Time4learning to get your children the education they need and deserve.

Benefits of Online Learning

Technology has Advantages

Many parents prefer a conventional classroom for their children. And while being in a class with a LIVE person and other students, the technology we have access to today affords our children many great educational opportunities.

You can find many FREE classes online for your child’s age and per his/her interests too! Time4Learning and even YouTube are two great places to start that offer great opportunities for virtual learning.

Parental Ease

Many parents find themselves needing to be more involved in the schooling of their children than is within their comfort zone. I promise all is not lost! Many companies were founded to help parents educate their children. One such company is called Thinking Tree Books.

You can search their MANY journals online and find some to meet the needs of your children. Thinking Tree journals are beautifully illustrated, affordable, and fun for kids! Several of them have sections for the child to write what he/she is learning through a documentary! Most journals also have lovely coloring or creative pages to engage kids as well!

Kids Can Work at Their Own pace

One beauty of many online courses is that they allow students to learn at their own pace. The online subscription to Teaching Textbook math to be very helpful for our auditory learners.

The parent can adjust grades and delete answers so that the student can redo lessons or quizzes as needed. This program also offers the option to “pause†your spot if a student needs more repetition before moving on. The “pause†feature also comes in handy if you’re family is in crisis mode and you need to take a little break from math!

I’ve included a printable to guide your students through their virtual learning experience! Click here to download the PDF File, print as many copies as you need to use with your online education at home.
