It is Far From Historically Accurate
Even though Bridgerton is set in the Regency era, it is actually not historically accurate. Creator and producer Chris Van Dusen was determined to ensure that the show would reflect modern society. Unlike other period dramas, there were no cultural experts on set to ensure historical authenticity.
In fact, the team decided to re-imagine London’s high society as it wasn’t meant to be a history lesson. Even fellow creator Shonda Rhimes agreed that they wanted the show to reflect today’s world even though it was set in the 19th century so that the audience would find it more relatable.
