Red Leicester Every Time
Like their carbs, Brits take their dairy seriously. Especially cheese, probably because it goes so great with bread and butter, which ends up on most of their foods. You’re probably familiar with cheddar cheese, which is the most commonly used cheese in Britain. But the population is also a big fan of red Leicester.
Aside from the color and texture, Leicester cheese is similar to cheddar in terms of taste. But Leicester cheese crumbles and is more reddish-orange from its mixture with annatto, although it was originally mixed with carrot and beetroot juices. Brits wouldn’t argue that this is the best cheese to put on all of your carbs, including pasta.
