Mincemeat Pie
Mincemeat pie is technically served as a dessert, which might surprise you after tasting the savory, yet sweet pie. Like all pies, the crust is crumbly and sweet while the inside is filled with savory flavors from the beef suet, currants, rump steak, and sweetness from the fruity and citrus flavors, brown sugar, and brandy.
Most pies are simple. Apple pies are filled with apples and cherry pies are filled with cherries. The mincemeat pie, on the other hand, is a confusing party. It seems like a member from every section of the food pyramid chart made its way into this dish. Mincemeat pies earned their name by originally being made with mincemeat.
