Spotted Dick
Don’t let the name of this recipe put any weird images in your head. The spotted dick has been a traditional British pudding dessert since the 19th century. It’s made with suet and dried fruit. It’s not the most exciting of all the deserts, except for when served with custard.
Now let’s discuss its strange name. The “spotted” refers to the currants, or the fruit the pudding is made with (usually raisins) and the world dick derives from the word “dough.” It’s surprising that in the UK, some pudding seems more of a healthy snack than a dessert to conclude the meal.
