You see them on the silver screen, read about them in the tabloids, and watch them week after week on your favorite and highly anticipated television shows. But did you know that today’s most beloved actors and actresses, comedians, models, and television stars had other passions earlier that they didn’t pursue? The passion that many of the celebrities share is cheerleading.
That’s right! You may not know, but are soon to find out, that you are a huge fan of some pretty talented former cheerleaders. Does this surprise you? It really shouldn’t. Think about everything it takes to be a great cheerleader: a spirited charm, great, big smile, a polished appearance, and the ability to excite big crowds. The lack of stage fright is definitely a must! It would be hard to argue that these celebrities have taken their cheerleading skills and used them towards their performances and red carpet interviews, wouldn’t it? Well, let’s take a look at who these former cheerleaders are:
Known for her beautiful smile, Cameron Diaz was the perfect fit for the cheerleading squad at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California, which she joined her sophomore year. She proved with her pom-poms that she was talented and passionate and her initial experience dazzling the crowd at the football games was easily transferable onto the silver screen.
Diaz’s beauty was undeniable and in 1988, at 16 years old, she made a breakthrough into the public eye as a model for Levi’s and Calvin Klein. The Charlie’s Angels star wanted to reconnect with her passion for performing and made her debut appearance in 1994 when she starred in The Mask, alongside Jim Carrey.
