Actress Danielle Brooks took up cheerleading when she was in high school but she didn’t last long on the squad. But it wasn’t due to poor talent. If you’re a fan of Orange Is the New Black, then you know that Brooks is incredibly talented. However, it’s not a secret that cheerleaders can be strongly scrutinized.

Brooks shared an emotional letter online that she had previously written to herself admitted the real reason why she quit the sport. “You really quit cheerleading because of how you felt you looked when you were wearing a skirt?” the letter read. Brooks now tries to motivate her fans to never quit their passion regardless of what others may think.
