Michael Douglas
Sometimes common interests run in the family. Michael Douglas followed in his father’s (Kirk Douglas) footsteps by pursuing cheerleading when he was a student at Choate Prep School in Connecticut. Douglas loved being in front of an audience and performing. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1968 with a degree in drama.
Douglas’s career started quickly, landing his breakthrough role in 1969 in CBS’ The Experiment. He starred in successful films such as Romancing the Stone, Basic Instinct, and Wall Street, which won him the Academy Award for Best Actor. Douglas was not only interested in being in front of the camera. In 1967 he won the Academy Award for Best Picture for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
