#27: Seagulls Aren’t as Harmless as They Seem
Being afraid of birds is a surprisingly common phenomenon, but being afraid of one particular type of bird is less so. Adele says that she suffers from laridaphobia, an intense fear of seagulls. She developed this phobia after seagulls attacked her as a child, and she still has the scar to remind her of the traumatic event.
It makes sense for somebody to be frightened of seagulls. They don’t seem scary at first. However, once you spend a little time around them, you realize how horribly aggressive these birds can be. They are scavengers and will sometimes belligerently try to steal your food. At the same time, they don’t seem to be afraid of anything.
