Kirk Douglas
Just so you know, cheerleading isn’t an all-female sport. Men can and do cheerlead to this very day, although the social stigma can be quite crippling to one’s self-esteem. But one person who didn’t let naysayers get to him was Kirk Douglas.
Before he became a world-renowned actor, Kirk cheered for Amsterdam High School. After that, he enlisted in the US Navy and fought in World War 2, until he was medically discharged three years later. Upon his return, Kirk started working in radio, which eventually opened doors to acting. Kirk appeared in over 30 films between 1946 and 2008. He passed away in February 2020.
