Hidden Fears
Aside from secret crushes and the occasional stealing, one of the most common things we hid as children were our fears. We were afraid of getting picked on, probably because we had enough sense to know our fears were unfounded but not enough to know how to make them go away.
As someone who had an illogical fear of certain doorknobs in my house because I felt like they were somehow looking at me as a kid, I can identify with this long-gone Redditor who couldn’t get the brain and skeleton out of their head. They had the reassurance of knowing brains can’t climb ladders, but I didn’t know what those brass doorknobs would do.
