Mary Poppins is one of our all-time favorite movies, and we feel bad for you if you didn’t watch it regularly as a kid. However, if you gave the movie any thought at all as an adult, things don’t quite add up.

At its core, the film follows a nanny hired, who was employed by an absentee dad. Later on, he becomes brainwashed into believing that Mary is an alien from another planet. If that weren’t bad enough, Mary fails miserably as a life coach, showing the kids that they can avoid unpleasant realities by simply sugarcoating all their problems away.
