Don’t Forget to Pre-Heat the Oven
Too many home bakers overlook the simple step of heating the oven before they insert their dish. Not heating your oven in advance can mess with your cook times and leave you with an undercooked or overcooked dish. Preheating allows you to have a consistent temperature when baking, which is critical.
Many baked goods also won’t cook properly if they are placed inside a cold oven. Some dishes, like frozen meals, can start in a cold oven, but the majority of desserts and other baked savory dishes need to start off in high heat. It is really easy to just turn on your oven before you start mixing your ingredients.
