“No Parking in Your Driveway”: Reddit Users Share Wild and Confusing HOA Rules and Regulations

If you’ve ever shopped around for white paint for a home renovation project, you already know there are endless different shades of white to choose from. Who knew? This HOA apparently does, because they made a special palette of white paint options for the neighborhood’s mailboxes. We say “options,” but we really mean “requirements.”

Believe it or not, a member of the HOA went to every single home in the community to check that each mailbox was painted one of the specified shades of white. If someone’s mailbox didn’t exactly match a shade of white on the palette, the homeowners had to pay out of pocket to have it repainted. Imagine having to repaint your vanilla mailbox to another shade of vanilla.
