#17: More kitchen safety!
According to the National Fire Protection Agency, over 172,900 fires were started in kitchens between 2014-2018. It’s impossible to overstress the concept of mitigating kitchen fires. Much like the previous poster, this advice is sound. Fires require air, and throwing a lid on the pot takes the air away, smothering the fire.

Quick thinking can keep a minor disaster from becoming a total loss of your home. If you don’t have a lid for that pot, try using a metal plate or baking tin. If all else fails, get out the fire extinguisher, hose it down, and order takeout. Your safety should be a priority!
