#30: Invest in a sharpener
A dull knife can quickly mean a trip to the ER if it slides off your avocado and into your hand (yes, that was me). Sharpening your knives and taking proper care of them is super important, not only for safety but for efficiency, too! Knives are dangerous and different parts dull at different rates. The tip can still be super sharp, while the edge won’t cut a tomato.
Knife sharpeners are easy to acquire and a must-have for any home cook. Some prefer a whetstone or electric, but personally, I like the handheld one that I run my knife through. It’s fast and efficient, easy to store, and very safe to use! Whichever kind you choose, be sure to sharpen your knives regularly!
