Those Crazy Kids: Facepalming Parents Share Their Stories

November 29, 2011 by Jade Parker

“Have Kids,” they said. “It’ll be fun,” they said. Next thing you know, your house has been remodeled in world record time after you thought it was safe to take a solo trip to the bathroom. Your beautiful white leather sofa is now an abstract collage of Hershey’s chocolate brown and strawberry Smucker’s. Your kitchen floor? There’s no floor anymore, only Nesquik, flour, and baking utensils. You try to restore order, but it will likely happen again because no matter how much advice we get from our own parents, the books, and the blogs, having kids means surrendering to every possibility that comes with raising tiny humans and their underdeveloped brains that possess them with the urge to shamelessly explore, create, and converse. Today we’ll be looking at hilarious moments kids drove their parents crazy with their incurable curiosity and wisecracking comebacks. Your inner child might even identify with a few.

Scheming Like Scar

Kids like to hoard things for themselves as if there’s only one of each item on the planet, but we encourage them to share with others as an exercise in empathy. 3-year-old Leona already understands empathy so well that she’s determined to weaponize it against her friends to get more dessert.

It isn’t a kid’s birthday party unless there’s a cartoon cake, but Leona requested that hers memorialize the saddest scene from The Lion King so her party guests would use the napkins to dry their tears instead of clean their mouths. We think Uncle Scar would be proud of this little lioness for conniving her way to the extra cake.
