Possession Obsession
Sharing is a stumbling block for many kids until they reach seven to twelve years old because this is the time where they acquire the crucial skill of perspective-taking. Until they reach that milestone, they believe you see the world the same way they do, from likes and dislikes to desires.
They’ll also go out of their way to let you know that what’s theirs is theirs, not yours. For us grown folks, the idea that we’d want to take a toddler’s chewed up snacks is ludicrous, but when you know what’s going on in their noggins, it makes total sense why they’d give us these hilarious-sounding warnings.
