A Reason to Shop
It’s common at supermarkets to see samples of pastries, pigs in a blanket, or any other heavily marketed food. This store isn’t marketing this brand of beer perse, but they are giving customers a good reason to buy it. You may have heard of impulse products: the small items you browse and grab while standing in line to pay.
This concept has the opposite approach, but it is just as successful. Instead of persuading you to buy it towards the end of your shopping experience, this supermarket wants you to grab a drink before a shopping cart. A little impaired judgment can hurt your wallet, but it’s good for the company trying to make money.
