Where did we come up with the type of symbols we see on signage? While sometimes the images clearly get their intended message across, other times they seem to be much more ambiguous. Take the photo below, for example. What was meant to be an image of a man slipping on water has a much different interpretation.
It appears that someone just didn’t think that this sign showed a wet floor. Instead, they saw a man with three snakes behind him, one of which had just slithered up and bit him in the ankle, causing him to fall to the ground. To explain this interpretation, they simply said, “1 out of every 3 snakes is an asshole.” Seems about right.
