Can’t Fix the Past
This mother was unable to cope with the demands of parenthood for whatever reason. She abandoned her child to begin a new life, and she has been virtually ignoring her for the past 25 years. She has rejected her daughter’s attempts to rekindle their relationship over the phone on numerous occasions.

What was her justification? “I was a terrible mother to you,” says the author. She sees no point in attempting to repair the damage done in the past, and she has little interest in meeting her grandchildren. She may find that her daughter is better off without her in the end.
