Scat the Cat – Louis Armstrong
The Aristocats, which came out in 1970, is a Disney movie based on the true story of a Parisian family of cats, in 1910, that inherited a great fortune. One of the well-liked characters was Scat Cat, the trumpet-playing cat named after musician Scatman Crothers.
What most people do not know is that the role was initially created for and based on Louis Armstrong. Due to an unfortunate illness, Armstrong was forced to step down from the role. But his influence remained in Scat Cat, through the gap in his teeth and the way he played the trumpet.
