Did you know that humans know more about space than what lies in the depths of our oceans? It sounds crazy, but it’s true. About 71% of our planet is covered in water, yet more than 95% of that remains unexplored. You never really know what’s down there until you scuba-suit up and take the plunge into the deep, dark unknown. Here are 50+ unforgettable experiences shared by scuba divers, snorkelers, and fishermen.

Almost becoming dinner
We couldn’t imagine anyone willingly diving into the dark underwater abyss at nighttime. Light barely penetrates the surface of the ocean in the daytime, so when night comes rolling around, you can bet that your vision is limited to just a few feet in front of you.

This diver had a particularly scary run-in with a 10-foot grouper fish. While groupers aren’t known for tearing humans’ limbs apart, the thought of facing a creature that’s several more feet longer than you is a scary one. Thankfully, nothing bad happened, but it did try and gnaw the OP’s foot off. Yeah, The only groupers we like seeing are deep-fried and served with lemon wedges.
