Dogs love food more than anything else in the world, and the more the merrier. What they love most is having some of our food – does it really taste better or does it just give them a sense of accomplishment to eat human food? We’ll never know. It makes sense, then, that any dog would react this way to a birthday cake, complete with the layers and the frosting.

The dog obviously can’t read what the cake says, and she doesn’t acknowledge it’s her birthday, but deep down inside, she must understand this cake is for her, in celebration of her, and that it’s something special. Besides, even if she doesn’t realize all of that, she knows it’s food, and it probably smells good – hence the face.
