You Big Ball of Gas
The sun is a weird thing. It’s a source of life for all vegetation and animals on our planet, it released million-mile-long flares, and there are black spots on the sun that are much cooler than the average surface of the sun, though they would still melt a person if they came within a few thousand miles of them.
But the best thing about the sun is that it’s 92 million miles away. Can you imagine how much hotter the Earth would be if it were even just a few thousand miles closer? We can’t because we’re not astronomers, but we imagine it would be unbearable, sort of like texting this person’s ex-boyfriend.
