Sidney = Disney
Here’s one theory that won’t ruin your childhood. If you remember what took place in Toy Story, Sid, the evil next-door neighbor, was evil. He was so evil that he would destroy toys using explosives (good parenting there) for no reason other than pure, sadistic enjoyment.
But if you know about the history of the film’s director, John Lasseter, you’ll know that Sid, whose real name is Sidney, is actually a metaphor. Sidney, which is an anagram for Disney (mind blown!), is a self-centered jerk, sort of like Disney. We’re surprised Disney actually let John get away with this. Or maybe the metaphor slipped under the media conglomerate’s radar.
