That’s One Theory
When we first watched Beauty and the Beast, we always felt that Gaston seemed to be overcompensating for something. After all, who in their right mind would continually chase a woman who has shown absolutely zero interest in you? We call those guys simps, and we all know that Gaston isn’t a simp, right?
Well, one theory describes Gaston’s overcompensating for something: he’s actually a closeted homosexual. He likes men, but his status would’ve put his position of power in question. That’s why he chose Belle as his “target” of affection—he knew they wouldn’t get together, but his perpetual chase would ward off any raised eyebrows people had about his “manhood.”
