The Science Behind Why We Like It Hot
Jumping into a candlelit tub overflowing with scented suds for a romantic evening with your girl sounds like a good time until you stick a toe in the water and swear your feet have been melted off my molten lava. Is she secretly a demon who spawned from Satan’s armpit?
It’s not as dramatic as that. Women tend to crank up the heat in the tub because their skin doesn’t hold onto heat as well as men’s. This combined with a lower temperature in their extremities and differences in muscle mass enables them to tolerate heat. A Dutch study showed that women are happiest at temperatures 2.5 degrees higher than men.
