Things To Teach
If your child is old enough to research on their own through the internet or books, you can let them have a lot more free reign in their project resources and research instead of having to teach these topics. Either way, some topics to focus on for a project that teaches about a new country could be: climate, foods, neighboring countries, government, location, population, currency, and more.
Keep Track
When learning about a country or letting your kid do their own research and project, you need to have them keep track of important findings so they’re learning something. Writing things down helps with memory and retaining what they’re learning. Have them keep a journal, or write their research down with a worksheet.
Present
If your kid is doing a project, have a way to present and talk about what they’ve learned and read in this process. This is important because it encourages interaction, helps them feel better about their progress, makes retention higher, and more. You can have them create their own way to present what they’ve learned, write a paragraph or essay about the country, or ask them questions to see what they learned.
