Charles Lindbergh
Charles Lindbergh is known as a famous American aviator, military officer, author, inventor, and activist. At the age of 25, he won the winner of the Orteig Prize for making the first nonstop flight from New York City to Paris in 1927. Out of all of the places he flew and visited, Kipahulu was his most favorite place on Earth.
Kipahulu is the oldest district in Maui. Lindbergh eventually moved and settled there in search of a more tranquil and simple life filled with beauty. After everything he had seen in the world, he couldn’t think of a better place to stay. He perished in 1974 and was buried in Palapala Ho’omau Church in Kipahulu.
