Surf’s Up!
Surfing is an aquatic activity that originated in Hawaii, dating all the way back to the fourth century A.D. when the Polynesians from Tahiti and the Marquesas settled on the Hawaiin Islands for agricultural purposes. They brought with them cultural traditions that are now popular in most of the world today.
The Polynesians and the Marquesas brought surfing and surfboards to Hawaii. Although beachgoers and aquatic sports lovers still enjoy surfing, most local people now participate in stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), another aquatic sport derived from surfing and was also originated in Hawaii. Today, Hawaii has some of the best beaches for surfing in the country.
