Guessing when meat is cooked
How can you tell when meat is cooked to perfection? Well, you can cook thousands upon thousands of steaks and play it by ear, or you can use a meat thermometer. The choice is yours, but we highly recommend you stick to the latter if you’re not a pro chef.
It’s not a good idea to guesstimate how long it takes to cook meat. Firstly, the cut and shape of the meat can affect cooking times, so even if the recipe says to bake the steak for 15 minutes, use a thermometer for extra assurance. Just so you know, a perfectly cooked medium-rare steak should reach between 135 and 145°F.
