Neglecting safety
Knives, fire, and a total disregard for safety. These are the three things that lead to injuries in the kitchen. Your knives should be razor sharp to make slicing and dicing a lot easier. However, you should also pay attention to where you place your fingers. Around the sharp edge is never a good idea.
Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and always within view. You never know when things can go awry, and a fire extinguisher is the only thing standing in the way of a house fire. Since we’re all rookies here, we should take things slowly. You’re not forced to serve hundreds of customers every hour, so you can afford to enjoy your time (and safety) in the kitchen.
