You know when you’re in the middle of a project and a huge roadblock is thrown up? You have the option of continuing with the plan or adapting your project. They might both work just as well as each other. Or not.
Here we find a weird mix of going with the roadblock (or post) and ignoring it. The project manager might have begun the day thinking that it would take too long to fit the sidewalk nicely around the post. He obviously ended the day thinking that maybe no one would notice what had happened if he just lined up the diagonal red pattern. I think people probably noticed.
