Sometimes style can triumph over sense, and this is definitely one of those times. Sure, aesthetically it makes sense for there to be a line painted at that particular distance. It is pleasing to the eye.

But it also tells the eye that there’s actually a step there. Cue tripping, falling, and a few “ouch” moments, none of which are particularly stylish, so maybe they should have just ditched the line.
