Who Okayed MDF Supports?!!
Medium-density fiberboard, abbreviated as MDF, should never, ever, ever be used as a support column. It might be fine for furniture, but never, ever, ever for your home. Do you know how unreliable MDF is? The medium-density in its name should pretty much tell you everything you need to know about it.
This type of engineered wood is made of wood residue. It’s not a complete block of wood that can actually offer excellent support. MDF is smooth and contains no knots, which is great for furniture, but it’s not water-resistant and will swell up when exposed to even the tiniest amount of moisture.
