Some people really have all the luck, don’t they? Apparently, this homeowner found something rather special stashed away in their New York home’s attic for more than 70 years. It turned out to be a Faberge figurine that was commissioned by Russian Czar Nicholas II for his wife Empress Alexandra.
It was crafted in the early 20th century and was one of only 50 of its kind. People have no idea how this rare figurine ended up in somebody’s attic but most believe that it was either stolen or smuggled out of Russia during the 1914 revolution. It was authenticated and eventually sold at an auction for $5.2 million. You read that right!
