Proper handwashing is heavily encouraged and needed for everyone right now, especially little ones that are at a higher risk. You probably know, teaching kids how to wash their hands properly and well can be a bit difficult due to short attention spans.
But, it’s an important task especially when it comes to times like these. Today I have some tips for teaching hand washing to kids or babies, along with a giveaway that rewards those teaching their babies how to have fun and wash their hands.

Hand Washing Tips for Kids
The Steps
The basic steps are the most important and easiest to teach, those being the ones we already know. The basic steps are: wet your hands, add soap, rub and lather thoroughly for at least 20 seconds, rinse your hands, and dry off.
Do it Together
Kids learn well by example, and you spending time to teach them how to wash their hands or washing yours with them helps to give them a positive experience that will imprint on their mind better. It won’t take too much time, and it’s worth the pause.
Let Them Choose
If you have multiple soaps or if you take your kids along with you while shopping, let them pick out what soap and other items they use. You could let your child pick the towel they dry off with or what soap they use to make it a little more interactive.
Washcloths
With especially little ones that have trouble scrubbing or rubbing at their hands well, washcloths are a lifesaver in hand washing and making sure they’re super clean. It can also make things more personal for kids by having washcloths that are colorful or fun.
Add Music
The tip is to sing “Happy Birthday” two times in your head for the 20 seconds while rubbing your hands. You could switch it up and make the whole routine along to music, or choose your little one’s favorite song to play for the 20 seconds.
Make it Fun
Kids are far more likely to actually do something and remember it if it’s fun. Making hand washing fun sounds hard. But it’s actually really easy if you make up fun stories, add music, or make it a game. There are loads of ways to make the routine more fun.
Honestly, the ways to help make this learning easier on parents and kids could go on longer. But these are some great tips to start you off with ideas and actions.

Hopefully, this will make teaching any age good hand washing skills much easier on parents or caregivers, especially because it’s so important at this time.
